Florence Skyline

Florence' skyline is dominated by the massive dome of the Cathedral of Santa Maria de Fiore, also known as Il Duomo. It was considered an engineering marvel when completed in 1436. Coming out of the Dark Ages, this was the first dome built since the Roman Empire, and remained the largest dome for centuries.
