Doge's Palace

The doges were the rulers of Venice during its heyday. Most held the position for life. The palace in which they lived, and where many of the state political, administrative, and judicial functions took place, is one of the prominent buildings on St. Mark's Square. It's now a museum, so we toured the very elaborately decorated Doge's Palace and its not-so-elaborate attached prison.
